The Frankfort Bluegrass Festival is a 2-day free bluegrass festival in Frankfort, Illinois which is around 35 minutes south of Chicago. The festival features both local and national bluegrass acts. There are many things that make this festival stand out from other festivals but the most important fact is that its is a free festival. The festival is from 10am to 10pm both Saturday and Sunday. Located in beautiful historic downtown Frankfort on Breidert’s Green the main stage is a replica of an old train depot and it sits on the popular Old Plank Trail. Another great feature of the festival is a free kids tent area that is full of crafts, magicians, a reptile show and more. This year there is also a second stage in Prairie Park near the kids tent. This stage will include free workshops, open stage and local musicians. So if you are looking for something to do on a beautiful summer day, come on out to the Frankfort Bluegrass Festival and enjoy some free music and entertainment.
